iPhone Duo screenshots: sizes, deadline and what to do now
iPhone Duo goes on sale on October 23, 2026. From April 2027, Apple requires screenshots made for it for every app and game submitted to the App Store.

Check your app free
Paste your App Store link. The health check reminds you about Duo screenshots with the sizes and steps, and checks a dozen other things that quietly cost downloads. No sign-up.
Why not wait until March
Without Duo screenshots, they see images made for a different screen, on the device they just bought.
You'll almost certainly ship something before April. Adding the screenshots then costs nothing extra; adding them in an April rush can hold up an update you need.
A screen that stretches or leaves empty bars when unfolded is better found by you now than by a reviewer later.
How to add them
- Run the app in the iPhone Duo simulator in Xcode, on the outer display and on the inner, unfolded one. Fix any screen that stretches, crops or leaves empty bars.
- Take screenshots at the sizes above. If your screenshots are designed (captions, frames), make a Duo version of the first three: they're the ones people see.
- In App Store Connect, open your next version → Previews and Screenshots → iPhone Duo and upload them. The new preview shows the product page as a Duo owner will see it.
- Submit them with the version. They go live with it.
If you have more than one app
The App Store page shows only one set of iPhone screenshots, so you can't check from the outside which of your apps have Duo screenshots. App Store Connect shows it per version and per language. When we checked our own account on October 8, none of our 10 apps had them.
- List every app you'll update before April.
- Add the Duo set to the first update of each.
- Check every language you upload screenshots for, not just English.
Connect App Store Connect to AppGrowly and it checks every app and version for you, live and in review, and marks the problem fixed once the screenshots are in.
What Apple hasn't said yet
Whether existing iPhone screenshots will be accepted in place of Duo ones, and how App Review will treat a submission without them. Until Apple says, assume you need real Duo screenshots.
Questions
When do iPhone Duo screenshots become required?
Apple told developers on October 5, 2026 that apps and games submitted to the App Store from April 2027 need screenshots made for iPhone Duo.
What sizes are iPhone Duo screenshots?
Outer display 1398 × 2034 pixels (2034 × 1398 landscape). Inner display 2007 × 2853 pixels (2853 × 2007 landscape).
Do updates to existing apps need them too?
Apple's notice doesn't separate new apps from updates, so plan for your next update after April to need them.
Can I reuse my existing iPhone screenshots?
Apple hasn't said whether existing iPhone screenshots will be accepted in their place, or how App Review will treat a submission without Duo ones. Until it does, assume you need real Duo screenshots.
How do I check whether my app already has them?
The public App Store page shows only one set of iPhone screenshots, so you can't tell from outside. App Store Connect shows it for each version and language. AppGrowly checks every app and version for you once App Store Connect is connected.
AppGrowly runs the health check on all your apps twice a day: iPhone Duo screenshots, the 2027 name switch, broken links and more, each with a small fix.
